Mythopoeia

The term mythopoeia, from Greek μυθοποιία "myth-making", refers to "artificial mythology", the deliberate creation of art of the written or spoken form, sharing most or all characteristics of myth but notably excluding a history of having emerged from its progenitor culture over generations and with the involvement of many people.

In recent years the word is associated with Tolkien; it is also applicable to Joseph Campbell, Robert Bly, and others of great significance to the men's self-actualisation.
